Important objectives of the first Northern Presbytery meeting on 9 September will be to appoint key leadership.

Collectively the five existing Presbytery Standing Committees have appointed an Interim Standing Committee to handle preparations for the first Presbytery meeting.

A Joint Nominating Committee is already considering possible candidates to be the Presbytery Minister (Lead), and it is planned that a recommendation will come to the meeting.

The role of Presbytery Chair will be different to before, as it is envisioned that it will involve several days per week.  Applications are being invited via the Synod website - Chair - Northern Presbytery.  Applications close on 21 August, in order to allow time for interviews and consideration prior to the Presbytery meeting.

The majority of the members of the Presbytery Standing Committee are to be members of the Presbytery, and to it is proposed that there be 12 elected members of the PSC, and that for the first 2 years there be a minimum of two from each of the constituent Presbyteries.

Attached are:

  • 2026 Northern Presbytery PSC Nomination Form

Note nominations close on Monday 24 August, and are to include:

  • a recent photograph
  • names and email addresses for 2 people who support the nomination.

It is intended that the the profiles of the nominees will be distributed to Presbytery members a week prior to the meeting on 9 September, and confidential online voting will be available in advance, and will close during that meeting.
