Special Meeting of the northern Presbytery Council

A special meeting of the Northern Presbytery has been called for 20th October.

Matthew Jones

On behalf of Chairperson Sharon Flynn

Dear Members of the Northern Presbytery,

This email gives notice of a Special Meeting of the Northern Presbytery in Council, to be held over Zoom on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, from 7pm to 8:30pm.

  • Presbytery members, please ‘save the date’ and make every effort to be available if possible.
  • Note that this meeting is for elected and co-opted (voting) members of Presbytery only, and not open to observers or non-voting members.
  • Details will be sent out next week, including a Zoom link.

The matter to consider will be the presentation by the Joint Nominating Committee of a nomination for Presbytery Minister, and the decision to issue a call. Presbytery Minister is the key leadership role of the new presbytery in the 3P model. They will serve as Team Leader of all staff and as the personal face of the presbytery’s pastoral and missional oversight. It is important that the full presbytery form a strong willingness and commitment to support this ministry, expressed through a call to minister among us.

Presbytery Standing Committee will meet on Tuesday 13th October to receive the nomination and arrange the Council meeting.

Most of you will already know that ministry placement proposals are always treated with the strictest confidence, for the integrity of the minister’s spiritual discernment, reducing disruption to existing placements, family privacy, and any impact upon others around the discernment. As is usual, the identity of the nominee will not be shared before the meeting. However, please be in prayer for the Standing Committee, the Nominee, and the Northern Presbytery at this exciting time.
